Your #1 rule when starting your Passion business

Hey Reader,

Just before the New Year I attended a mastermind and heard the following:

"Whatever you do today will impact your business 6-9 months from now."

This was such a relief, and at the same time a good reminder of the #1 rule we should have in mind when starting our Passion business.

It all just takes time!

This has been one of the most annoying and difficult lessons for me to learn. I'm pretty impatient, and used to just doing my thing and getting what I want.

When you combine this with the crazy online business world where everything happens "in a month" and people "quit their jobs and start making 6-figures in a matter of seconds"...

It can just get a bit overwhelming.

But the truth is, like with any big project, it's probably going to take much more time than you originally thought, and cost a lot more (time / energy / money) than you planned.

Ok, this is not to discourage you, but to motivate you to keep at it (the book of the month is also quite fitting!).

If you have plans to start your Passion business (or maybe you have started already), keep this in mind.

Whatever you do today will impact your business 6-9 months from now.

Where do you want to be in 6-9 months with your business? Whatever it is, start NOW and make small but clear steps towards it every day.

Don't have a website yet but planning it "somewhere down the road?" Start now, because from the time that you actually have your brand and website in place - the journey of your business is just beginning.

And guess what - imperfect action is better than waiting for the perfect moment to be perfectly ready (because in business, like in parenting, we are just never ready...)

A word about plans and goals (that I failed)

Sometimes we make goals and achieve them, sometimes we don't...

I planned to open my Canva shop by end of 2021, but I didn't make it. Instead I got swamped with client work in Nov-Dec (also nice!), so this one got postponed. Oh well. New goal: end of Q1.

I did however manage to open my WordPress template shop, which was a nice bonus!

In my view this is normal though.

Let's not get discouraged by goals that didn't get achieved. If we just commit to the process, and keep at it... we will eventually reach the desired destination!

So this is your reminder and encouragement to join me and just keep at it!

I love books, so I wanted to add a section at the end about the books I have read recently, the ones I loved and would send to my friends as gifts.

Atomic Habits

An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones
by James Clear

Great read about why we should let go of the goal as such, and instead focus on being the kind of person we want to be. Daily little (atomic) habits, when followed upon, will compound to amazing results on the long-run. But here again... it's just going to take a bit of time ;) (However reading this book will not take a long time, it's an easy but fantastic read!)

Wishing you a great week!

Love,
Kaisa

Hey Reader, When you hear the word "Branding", what does it make you think of? Is it clear what happens in a branding process, or does it feel a bit fluffy and vague? If it's a bit vague in your head, don't worry, I hear this a lot. This is why I wanted to talk about this in a bit more detail, because when you are starting a passion based business, branding is such a powerful tool to help you clarify the deeper levels of your brand. Getting to the core of you Essentially branding is getting...

Hey Reader, Have you ever noticed how we are often our own best clients? At least I tend to be the primary audience for my own advice :) Which is how it should be in my opinion. The moment we are "above our own message" is the moment we lose touch with ourselves and our audience. Today I'm not so much talking about design, but rather life-design. Whenever I feel disconnected, or feel like I could use some advice, I tend to write about it. And somehow in this process of writing I answer my own...

Hey Reader, The past few weeks I have been immersed in beautiful stories of courage, passion, soul-journey and fulfillment. I have namely been doing some Market Research calls because I want to niche down a bit more in my branding and web design services. I love working with purpose-driven small businesses, but to be more exact, I have narrowed it down to my absolute dream client: service based entrepreneurs in coaching or wellness. Why? Because I have a background in coaching, yoga, wellness...
